Einführung Südostasien

Das Online-Seminar richtet sich an Anfänger:innen der Südostasienstudien sowie andere Interessenten. Es wird die Südostasien-Sammlung, besondere der originalsprachige Südostasien-Bestand, vorgestellt. Es werden Recherchemöglichkeiten nach südostasiatischen Materialien, insbesondere in nichtlateinischen Schriften, besprochen. Die Teilnehmer lernen die unterschiedlichen Kataloge, relevante Datenbanken und das digitale Angebot zu Südostasien kennen.

Introduction China – in English

In this web seminar, a brief overview of the SBB China Collection and our collection profile will be given. Initial research options for resources on and from China will be presented using the East Asia Department’s OPAC, the journal database (ZDB) and the CrossAsia search. In addition, our so-called Get It Services – Blue Loanservice (BLV), Patron Driven Acquisition (PDA) and Digitization on Demand (DoD) – will be explained and databases relevant to China will be addressed.

Introduction Japan – in English

The topic of this webseminar is how to search for Japan-related materials in Japanese and/or western languages that are available in Germany. The overview includes the basic search tools CrossAsia Search, the OPAC of the East Asia Department and the German Union Catalogue of Serials (Zeitschriftendatenbank, ZDB). In addition services such as the special inter-library-loan system called „Blauer Leihverkehr „, the possibility of acquisition requests and the access to Japan-related databases will be introduced.

The online training course „Introduction Southeast Asia“ presents resources and research tips and is aimed at students and researchers in the field of Southeast Asian Studies. The focus is on the use of CrossAsia, the Digitised Collections and the StaBiKat. The course will be held in English.

Wie der Name der Datenbank JapanKnowledge schon andeutet, handelt es sich um eine Plattform für Nachschlagewerke und Wörterbücher zur Japanologie. Darüber hinaus besteht Zugriff auf mehrere historische Zeitschriften und umfangreiche elektronische Buchausgaben. In dieser Online-Schulung sollen die Recherchemöglichkeiten sowie die Inhalte von JapanKnowledge näher vorgestellt werden.


Introduction Central Asia – in English

The webseminar deals with the subject area of Central Asia, which is defined geographically and includes Mongolia, regions of the Mongolian, Tibetan and Uyghur minorities in China as well as the Tibetan and Uyghur exile communities. In addition to general notes, basic research strategies for printed and electronic resources will be presented. The event is aimed at students and other interested parties who want to use the CrossAsia portal with selected databases, the StaBiKat and the digitised collections. The course will be held in English.

CrossAsia – Specialised Information Service Asia (FID Asia): an Introduction

The introduction aims at users new to CrossAsia and its services. It will give a short overview of the history and tasks of the portal and the registration process followed by an introduction to CrossAsia Search, CossAsia Get it services (special interlibrary loan service, acquisition requests and digitisation on demand) and the features of the CrossAsia database portal. The lecture will be held in English.


Chinese Academic Journals: Basic and advanced features – in English

The webseminar introduces CrossAsia resources containing academic journals and articles published in Chinese and how to make use of the various search features they offer. It will focus on the big databases but will also show some smaller hunting grounds for academic journals.
